People believe in religions, for several reasons. The earliest was to describe actions that could not be described at the time. Example: the earth is shiking because god doesn't like us, when in actuality it is just geological activity. Now it it mainly because the younger gereration is brainwashed into believing these things from a very young age. And when the religion says something that you have learned as long as you can remember and you see something otherwise, there is always conflict.
