Metal uses a type of vocals called "screaming" (im not sure why a lot of people call it screamo, screamo is not metal) these vocals consist of different types and styles of screams. Low or high growls are often used in metal and death metal. In hardcore music they often use fry screams, which are more vocally based instead of diaphram bassed like growls. Try YouTube for turtorials of how to us screaming vocals. I must add, this style of music is not satanic or devil worshiping in anyway. Some bands are satanic, but it's not as common.
