If you are still growing, the curve can gradually progress (get worse). If you're no longer growing, it's much less likely that the curve will progress - but still possible.

Doctors don't know why this happens, so your doctor should be scheduling regular check-ups to monitor your spine.

If you're at 33 degrees and still growing, most doctors will recommend bracing. There are several different types of braces (Boston brace, Milwaukee brace, Providence brace), and most need to be worn ~23 hours per day. The Providence brace only needs to be worn overnight; ~12 hours per day.

Bracing is supposed to either slow or stop the curve's progression, but it's not always entirely effective - again, doctors don't know why.
