An earthquake is seemingly dangerous in a more urban environment with a lot of buildings and such. When the earth shakes so does the buildings so possibly something can fall on your head or the building you're in can collapse and kill you! The safest place is an open ground which nothing can fall on you. Make sure that you're low on the ground otherwise it could make you fall and such. I'm not sure because I personally have never been in an earthquake, I'm just answering with common sense.
