You have to remember that TV reality shows are fake and they are only people acting. Sometimes the people on TV don't have the same values as you do. For instance, you might see someone having sex with every person they date. But what the reality show doesn't tell you is that you have STDs when having sex with multiple partners. The reality show doesn't show you all aspects of life.
First of all, I think it gives people a false sense of reality - everyone thinks their lives should be just like on TV. Second, I suspect it can cause depression - for the same reason as above. Finally, I think it is a big time-waster, ever notice how time flies by when the TV is on? People should be doing more constructive things with their time, including being more active.
