Water vapour in the air - condenses onto surrounding surfaces when the temperature drops.
Frost is a form of precipitation that occurs when water vapor in the air freezes onto surfaces like grass, cars, and windows. It usually happens on clear nights when the temperature drops below freezing.
The moisture comes from the water vapor in the air. As the temperature drops to near the dew point, the water vapor condenses on cold surfaces in the desert.
