The term "hindrances" refers to obstacles or barriers that impede progress or movement. The word comes from the verb "hinder," which means to create difficulties or prevent something from happening. Hindrances can be physical, mental, or situational, and they often require effort to overcome in order to achieve a goal or desired outcome. Ultimately, they are called hindrances because they obstruct or delay the intended path or action.
It is a prayer for those who have gone on before and for those who will yet go.
One huge hindrance is when a person's conduct is in opposition to what Jehovah God wants. For example, when the nation of Israel was (at the time they were His chosen people) disobeying His commands, He would ignore their prayers. (Isaiah 1:15-16) If a husband is mistreating his wife, Jehovah would ignore his prayers also. (1 Peter 3:7) As strange as this might sound, a person also must believe in Jehovah to begin with to at least some extent, and that He's able to help them. (Hebrews 11:6) We must also pray for things that are in harmony with His will, or else He will not answer them. For example, praying to win while gambling, asking for Him to end someone's life, etc. those are things that He won't answer. (James 4:3) On the flip side, if what you pray for is in line with His will, your prayers are guaranteed to be answered at some point. (1 John 5:14-15) (New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)
