Ehr, I'd rather you didn't...

Evolution is not an individual thing; it's something measured in terms of changing allele frequencies in entire populations.

It's also something that can't be increased or decreased. You can increase the rate of evolution, for instance by increasing the rate of mutation, but there isn't something like a higher or lower "state of evolution".

How does the 2nd law of thermodynamics make evolution impossible?

The second law does NOT make evolution impossible. It just requires that as evolution takes place that there be an increase in entropy of the universe as a whole.

What is Copes Rule?

Generalization that states there is a tendency for body size to increase in evolution.

How did cyanobacteria affect evolution process?

Cyanobacteria photosynthesised, which meant that they released oxygen. This was the key to the evolution of eukaryote cells that aerobically respired. From their evolution, the O2 levels in the atmosphere was able to increase; this is why we eventually evolved.

Why does evolution require diversity within a species?

If everything is exactly the same, there is a lower chance of evolution occurring; diversity is not necessary, but it works quicker. This is because where random mutation is the only thing to introduce wider genetic diversity, it will take a longer time than simply mixing the gene pool up.

When did human brains began to increase in size?

Human brains began to increase in size around 2 million years ago during the evolution of the genus Homo. This increase in brain size is associated with the development of more complex cognitive abilities and the emergence of early human species like Homo habilis and Homo erectus.

What factor is least likely to contribute to an increase in rate of evolution?

Habitat Stability.

Does evolution on describe behavior?

Evolution can influence behavior by shaping traits that increase an organism's chances of survival and reproduction. For example, behaviors such as parental care, cooperation, or aggression may be the result of evolution in response to specific environmental pressures. Ultimately, behavior can be seen as an adaptive response to evolutionary processes.

What does the evolution process result in?

The evolution process results in species developing adaptations that increase their chances of survival and reproduction. Over time, these adaptations can lead to changes in the genetic makeup of a population, driving the diversity of life on Earth.

How does nonrandom mating impact evolution change?

Nonrandom mating can affect evolution by altering the frequency of certain genotypes in a population. It can increase or decrease the occurrence of specific traits, leading to changes in the gene pool over time. This can ultimately impact the evolution of the species by influencing genetic diversity and the prevalence of certain characteristics.
