The same holds true for the stems' use of osmosis in overcoming gravity, the use of liquid pressure in overcoming wind (and other) structural stresses, the stems' optimal load-bearing cantilevered design, and the fact that as new wood cells are formed around the outer ring of tree-stems (trunks and branches), the tree in advance imparts to them a tensioned state to resist damage. "Wood has an exceptionally high resistance of fracture, which makes wood such a useful material. This high efficiency cannot be accounted for by any of the recognized structural mechanisms which operate in man-made composites."

One example: Bamboo is, by weight, stronger than concrete, though the plant invests only 1/8 of the production-energy that is used in making concrete.

We can see that God wisely designed plants in just the way they would have evolved by natural selection. The way the leaves of many species are arranged allows the plant an optimal amount of light-gathering with a minimal expenditure of material. Sometimes, when God (or nature) produces a design that is less suited to the environment than other plants with which it must compete for sunlight or nutrients, that design slowly becomes extinct. This 'wisdom' is also obvious in the animal kingdom.
