There are many approaches in analyzing poetry. Basically, you are trying to show how the poet writes poetry. Analyze syntax: talk about the methods used in the poem such as sentence structures, sentence length, word order, punctuation, and repetition. Also talk about it's significance of the methods and what it reveals about the speaker and poem. Do the same when analyzing diction: word choices and loaded words; and figurative language: metaphors, similes, and imagery.
