The best way to avoid low blood sugar (assuming diabetic) is to adjust your insulin based on what you eat and what you plan to do in terms of activity. Exercise will typically lower blood sugar; if you are planning on being active in the future, it is best to lower your insulin ratio (i.e. if your ratio is normally 2 units of fast-acting insulin for 15 grams of carbohydrates, try giving yourself 1 unit for that same 15 grams of carbohydrates if you are planning on exercising). Another option, albeit not the best, is to eat more food to match the insulin that you have already gave yourself (i.e. if you have already given yourself those 2 units but your friends suddenly need an extra body for their 3-on-3 Basketball game, try eating or drinking some carbohydrates [fast-acting ones like Capri Sun drinks if soon; slow-acting ones like yams, whole wheat bread, fruits, etc. if the activity is further away in the future] to raise your blood sugar in preparation for the exercise).
There is no way known to mankind to avoid the base sugar known as glucose. Everything you eat eventually breaks down into this base sugar, and it's the fuel the human body needs to do it's everyday business.
A more appropriate thing to know is how to manage glucose. Diabetics should know this stuff cold. Complex carbohydrates break down into glucose much slower, causing the pancreas to limit the release of insulin, which is the key to breaking down carbohydrates into glucose, which, as I said, is the fuel the body runs on.
Avoid lots of carbohydrates, sugar and chocolate's, plenty of exercises and eat healthy and avoid obesity
