One way is to use a level with the gate centered in between the rollers. Level the gate using only the bottom rollers, moving the gate if needed to take the pressure off the wheel while adjusting. Then when the gate sits level on the bottom rollers move the top rollers down to contact the gate or 1/2 in off the gate. You may have to increase this if the gate was not built correctly of has been damaged. Also you may have the rollers tighten when they com to an upright, this would also have you move the top rollers off slightly. Check to make sure that 2 rollers in both the closed and open position are relatively free spinning, if not check that the bearing in the wheels are not worn.

How To Protect Your Family By Installing Security Driveway Gates?

Security driveway gates can add a great deal of curb appeal as well as many great benefits for you and your family. By installing your own security gate you can save between $3000 and $7000. Here is a guide to help you complete this project. Step 1. You will need to contact your local utility companies to have them flag your property before digging. This will let you know were the utility lines and piping is located so that you can avoid hitting them when digging. Step 2. You will need to purchase your security driveway gate through either a local home improvement store or through an online dealer. These security driveway gates are available in many different models and designs that will add great curb appeal to your home as well as provide you and your family the added security that you want. Step 3. You will need to set the posts for your security driveway gate. Using a measuring tape, measure the distance across your driveway in the proper distance that coincides with the measurements of your gate. Try to center this by subtracting the width of your driveway from the length of the gate and divide the left over inches by 2. This is the amount you will want to measure from the edge of your driveway over. Mark the spot with a wooden stake. Do the same with the other side. Step 4. Using a post hole digger or spaded shovel, dig the area that you staked off for your security driveway gate posts. Dig the hole between 6 to 12 inches in depth. Place your security gate post in the hole that you just dug. Do the same for the other side. Step 5. Mix your cement according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure that your posts are straight and fill in the hole for the post with the cement mixture. Let this set for twenty four hours. Step 6. You will need to mount the hinges of your gate to the posts. Most security driveway gate kits have pre-drilled post that will allow you to just screw the hinges in the holes. If you kit is not pre-drilled you will need to measure the area that is suggested by the manufacturer on where to place your hinges on the posts. Screw the hinge into this hole. Step 7. With assistance from someone you will need to hang your security driveway gate. To do this most fences rewire that you line up the hinge on the post with the hinge on the gate and secure them in place with the hardware provided. You will need a wrench to fine tune the gate leaves. Step 8. If you have a security driveway gate that has an automatic opener, you will need to bolt the opener onto your gate. To do this, bolt the brackets that will hold the gate opener in the specified area that the manufacturer suggests onto your gate. Mount the opener onto the brackets. Step 9. If you have selected a security driveway gate that has amenities such as a keypad, security camera or photo eye, you will need to wire this equipment in. You can choose to do this yourself if you fully understand the manufacturer’s instructions and have very good electrical experience or you can choose to hire a professional electrician to help you with this step. Step 10. Test your system and make any needed adjustments. Do not allow children around the security gate as there are serious injuries that have been reported from improperly functioning security driveway gates.
