You can be smart like a scientist by adhering to the scientific method when forming conclusions. The scientific method is about using empirical evidence, and logical forms of argument to draw conclusions. Experiments that can and are repeated over and over again, while showing the same result over and over again, are used to establish "proven" theories.

An example of "proven" theories is Newton's Laws of Physics. Repeated experiments over many many years has "proven" that these laws of physics exist, and can now be applied to situations to determine outcome.

So, to be smart like a scientist means letting the facts, evidence, and experiments dictate truth; not what you "believe".
