There are acid tests, and jewlers have a few techniques using hardness and such, but the easiest way for a lay-person to identify gold is by density (or sometimes called specific gravity)
You do this by measuring the mass (weight) and volume of the item.
density = weight / volume
You can measure the volume by difference using a graduated cylinder and water.
You can measure the mass with a precise enough scale.
You can find the expected density of a given karat value by searching your favorite search engine for "density karat gold" and be careful that your units match the numbers given.
You can't, that is one of the reasons why it is against the TOS (Terms of Service) that you accept every time you install or patch World of Warcraft. Most gold selling sites are scammers, trying to get account info and credit card info. If buying and selling gold were a good idea, Blizzard would make it legal, but they obviously think it's not a good idea.
Look inside the band of the ring. It should be stamped 10K, 14K, GF10K, GF14K, SS/GF. The 10 and 14K means it is gold. The GF means it is gold filled and not gold. SS means it is sterling with a layer of gold bonded over it.
Bite it for 1 to 2 minutes. Let it react to your spit. After 2 minutes, see if it has tooth marks. Pure gold is soft. If it does have tooth marks, it is gold.
You can tell if a ring is real gold or not by putting it near a magnet. If the ring is attracted to the magnet it is not real gold, real gold is not magnetic at all.
Real gold will have a stamp on it telling what it is. It should say 10K, 14K, 18K, 24K, or gold filled. Gold filled (GF) is not real gold. If the chain or pendant or ring doesn't have this on it then it isn't real gold.
The best way to know if your ring is real gold is to bring it to a local jewelry store where they can do a metal test for you.

it is a 14 carat gold ring
A ring to be considered gold must be 10k or above and stamped inside the band of the ring 10k, 14k, 18k. If it isn't stamped more than likely it is not real gold. If in doubt about the value of a ring take it to a jeweler who can tell you about it.
The number comfirms that the piece of gold is real.
Sd14k necklace is gold?
For real
The best way to tell if your gold is real is to take it to a jeweler to have a scratch test done. They will make a scratch on your ring, apply a solution and depending on what color the solution turns that indicates what you have.
