I would like to tell you that friends who leave you just because your style changes, couldn't be friends at all. But I'm also going to give the realistic answer:

Try not to go overboard on the scene-kid style. Mix in more mainstream pieces of clothing with the ones you are now wearing. Also, slowly edge your way into the style of being a scene kid. Don't just go from preppy to dying your hair, loki dokie and rimmed glasses. Slowly change your style from what you are wearing now, to what you want to look like. This way, your friends will be less surprised and/or offended by the immediate change.
