First if it needs to be charged it has a leak. They are sealed systems. Find the leak using soap water. You need to go.to a wholesaler and buy two schrader self piercing valves. You have to pierce both the suction line, (the larger line) and the liquid line, (smaller line). You have to have a set of gauges. Hook them up to the valves. You need the refrigerant. You must have an EPA universal license to purchase and use this. You also need a vacume pump to pull a vacume after u fill system and u should use a scale for your tank so u know how much refer to put in unit. Use tera weight minus what your system requires. It says on the compressor. It is less money to just a new one. As u must buy a whole 30# tank of refer. Check the condenser first it may just be plugged.
