The battery in a w211 is in the boot next to the space saver spare wheel, However.... There is NO such thing as a 1997 W211. You are talking about a W210. The W211 didn't come out until 2002

I am on the trail myself. There is a bunch of relays behind the fuses on the rear RHS of the engine comartment. One of these, I think. More later.

Hi, Can you clarify what is exactly wrong with the odometer? Those W210 cars have a sealed digital odometer. If one part of the display is faulty, you will need to have the whole unit replaced. Regards Mike S.
