The most common nonferromagnesian member of the mica family is muscovite.
Both are platy, silicate, mica group minerals with perfect cleavage in one direction.

Mica schist is primarily composed of mica, whereas aventurine - note the spelling- is composed of quartz with abundant inclusions of mica. This makes for a relatively hard, tough and attractive material that can be polished into jewelry and many other items.
Biotite mica contains iron and/or magnesium, but muscovite mica does not.
