If you look at the pipe that is going into the filter pump you will notice that it has a tee that is peceeded by two or three pipes comming up from the ground. Those will be from the skimmer, main drain, and if you have one from the cleaner. If you observe the flow of water in the skimmer then change the valve so there is no more water flowing that will be the one going to the main drain or cleaner. Repeat the process to eliminate which one is the cleaner. Which ever one is left is the main drain.
If there is no drain valve at the radiator you can drain the system at the drain valve on the boiler
The bypass valve in an oil filter allows the oil to bypass the filter if the filter becomes clogged. Some filters also have an anti-drain back valve when the filter is mounted in such a way as the oil could drain out of the filter. Hmmm, do you possibly mean the back wash valve on the filter? This valve has many positions to choose from especially for sand filters. Filter, back wash, drain, drain to waste, filter bypass, closed. They are pretty much self explanatory. A little oil will drop into the cup when you remove the used filter. There is a black drain valve under the oil filter cup. You can remove the drain valve cover and let the small amount of oil drain into a cup. Wipe the cup clean before you install the new filter.
All the 6.5's have a water drain valve for the fuel filter. It is the brass valve that is mounted to the thermostat housing. Pull the drain line out of hiding and put in a container then start truck, then open valve, water should flow out. ... just what i was told sounds correct
If it like mine, 7.3 in a 350, there is a fuel filter located on the firewall side of the engine. There is a lever on it that opens a valve on the bottom. This will let the water that has collected in the filter to drain out. Put a pan under where the filter is and let the filter drain until you start to smell the fuel and then close the valve. I recommend doing this when the engine is cool. I think mine has a red lever that opens the valve. Hope this helps.
The fuel filter is on the very top center of the motor, under a plastic cover. It has a drain valve that is used in filter replacement. The valve might have been bumped slightly to the drain position or the valve seal might be bad.

Need more specific info A multi valve pool filter is a common configuration of valve and filter for a swimming pool system. The piping into and out of the filter is attached to a multivale. A multivalve has has several positions. One type of multi valve has six positions: backwash, waste, filter, closed, rinse and recirculate. (These valve positions are used on a DE filter. A sand filter may be different.) Use the filter setting in the nromal operation of your pool. This setting receives water from the pump and directs it to the dirty side of the filter media and then receives weater from the clean side and directs it to the pool. Use the Backwash setting to flush the DE from the filter and to a drain. Use the waste setting to flush water directly from the pump to the drain. The closed position is, well, closed. Rinse? Recirculate?
Possibly the filter did not have an anti-drain back valved installed. Purchase a name brand filter that has such a valve.

Algae dust that comes from the algae fairy right? Anyway the best way to get rid of the algae skeletons (as one of my customers calls it) is to vacuum them directly out of the pool bypassing the filter. The problem is that these dead algae spores are too small for the filter to pick up so they end up going right through the filter. The best way to vacuum them out depends on what type of filter you have: SAND FILTER-Use the waste or drain position on the valve to vacuum your pool this will effectively remove the algae from the pool. You will have to refill the water you drain out of the pool when you are done. DO NOT COMPLETLEY DRAIN THE POOL. If the water gets to low stop and refill before you continue. D.E. FILTER-If you have a multiport (this valve will have at least 4 positions on it) valve on the filter put the valve in the waste position just like with the sand filter above. If you don't have a valve to backwash or you have a backwash valve that only allows you to filter or backwash then you have a difficult situation. The other option is to plug all the return lines where the water comes back to the pool then remove the filter grids (if you have a grid filter) and open the drain valve on the filter and turn the pump on to vacuum the pool. Make sure that you have the water directed away from your filter system and your house. CARTRIDGE FILTER-Here you have a real problem if you have an in ground pool and about the only way you will get rid of the problem is to get a portable pump (or a separate pump) and vacuum the pool with this pump discharging the water out of the pool along with the algae dust. If you have an above ground pool you can plug the return and the skimmer. Then remove the filter cartridge from the filter. Reassemble the filter without the cartridge then where the water comes back into the pool take the hose connected to that fitting off the side of the wall of the pool and directed the hose away from the pool, filter system and your house. Then turn the pump on and vacuum the pool until the algae dust is gone. DO NOT COMPLETLEY DRAIN THE POOL. If the water gets to low stop and refill before you continue. FYI _ Cartridge filter they sell this bag that goes over your skimmer basket it cost like 8 dollars and it filters all of the algea into it so you dont have to drain the pool.
The techinique I have used works pretty well but you have to remove the sand pile. 1) Open drain on bottom of filter. 2) Remove top valve assembly. 3) Remove sand screen from drain valve - needle nose pliers work. 4) Fill filter with water - a sand slurry should start from the drain. 5) Use a rod or screwdriver the periodically clear the drain to keep the flow going. 6) Add water and hose down the sand in the filter as needed. 7) Move the sand away from the drain to keep the flow continuous.
Hot water heat is typically a closed system, and the pressure gage is used to determine if the system is full of water. Loss of water in a closed system will create air gaps in the water flow, and the boiler is not capable of heating air. Low water level arriving back to the boiler will trigger the high-temp shut off switch, and the water will not become hot. Add water to the system and check the gage. To add water, open slightly the system drain valve (should be located in a pipe at the top of the system) and fill the system thru the inlet valve with a hose from a faucet until the spray from the open drain valve is solid. It is probably not the fuel canister itself that is leaking.......on the back side of the canister ther is a small plastic drain valve.....this valve has an O-ring in it that dries up and fails causing the leak. the drain valve has a yellow valve control on it. It is a very cheap part and easy to fix.............Nick
The stp s3512 oil filter is the cross reference to the fram ph8172 oil filter. Both brands are equipped with an anti drain valve and the canisters are the spin on variety.
