How can you find out if you have a painting that is worth money and who the artist is i think the artist is Richard McNeil?

Hi,Please save yourself the heartache and expence.I was given a painting from my parents when they divorced and we were led to believe it a David Shepherd.We even have the paperwork from a respected art dealers.We now find that we may not have a David Shepherd after all But an Artist Called Leighton.There are many people and companies out there who will gladley take your money from you and tell you what you want to hear.My advice would be to only listen to advice if its free,and given from a knowledgable person.Kind Regards Deeb Ratcliffe. x
