How do you calculate yarn count for different gsm in knit fabrics?
1. have a look at your pattern and see how many grams of yarn it will take to make the patter. 2. some where on the ball of yarn it should say how many grams are in the ball. 3. add up the number of balls it would take to make the pattern. For example if a pattern calls for 730 grams of bulky yarn and the ball only has 200 grams then you would need about 5 balls of bulky or similar weight yarn to complete the pattern.

How do you calculate GSM in woven fabric?
Easy formula for calculate gsm as below, GSM= (EPI/Warp count*1.1)+(PPI/Weft count*1.04)*23.5 Suppose: Fabric is 20x20/60x60 Calculate: (60/20x1.1)+(60/20x1.04)x23.5 =(3.3+3.12)x23.5=6.42x23.5=150.87 So, GSM is 150.87maximum Hopefully you get it. How do you reduce the GSM of knitted fabric?
It depends on what variations you will allow. If you use an open, lacy stitch the gsm will be less. If you still want a smooth fabric you can use larger needles, but you'll probably throw the gauge out. Alternatively, if you shop around and read the ball bands carefully, you can probably find a yarn which is lighter per metre (i.e. longer per 100g).
How do you calculate gsm for weaven fabrics?
To determine approximate GSM (grams per square meters) of a given fabric, you can use following formula. One of my colleagues used to use this formula in testing lab. In case different counts of warp thread or weft thread is used then this formula will not give you correct GSM. It is also known as conversion formula from fabric construction to fabric weight. Fabric GSM = (EPI/warp count + PPI/Weft count) x (100+crimp %) X 0.2327 For example, construction of a fabric is 40 X40 /120 X 60 and warp and weft crimp is 6%. Then GSM of this fabric will be, GSM = (120/40 + 60/40) X (100+6%) X 0.2327 GSM =104.77 I found others to use this formula with different multiplying factors. Fabric GSM= ((EPI/warp count X 1.1) + (PPI/weft count x 1.04)) x 23.5 By Dharmi Where 1.1 and 1.04 are warp and weft crimp factors respectively.

Can you lock your 3g phone to gsm only?
If your 3G phone is both GSM and CDMA, then you can't do anything about it. You would just have to use it on GSM carriers. Now, there are some 3G phones as well that is just GSM-based, so you would not have to worry about locking it to GSM only. All you need to do is find out your phone's specifications.
