Divide it. Say you have 20 and want to know what percent of 100 20 is.
20/100= .20 (20 percent) (read percent as parts of 100)
You have 100 and you want to know what 40 percent of 100 is?
100 x .40 = 40
turn it into a fraction then divide the top number by the bottom afterwards times the answer by a hundred.
divide the smaller number by the larger number, and multiply by 100. 60 is 75% of 80.

To find 12.5 percent of a number, multiply the number by 0.125.
