Files that can't be opened in WMM (Windows Movie Maker) are very likely in the wrong format. These are the formats used by WMM:
Video files: .asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv
Audio files: .aif, .aifc, .aiff, .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, and .wma
Picture files: .bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, and .wmf
Make sure Automatic Updates is enabled (and that all updates were successfully downloaded and installed). This may fix any gliches in the program. I would also suggest doing some personal computer maintenance such as a disk-cleanup and defrag as bogged-down hard-drives spawn application issues.
If you've done all of this an are still unable to Save movie files, you may want to consider re-installing your particular version of Windows Movie Maker again.
You need to configure your computer to open files from an earlier version Windows Movie Maker.
Import the files to your computer from the CD, then import them into the Windows Movie Maker Program.
Easycap capture card files are not compatible with Windows Movie Maker.
Windows Movie Maker will not accept .mkv or .flv files. You have to convert the files to a format compatible with the program before you can import them. Windows Movie Maker is limited in the amount for formats it can import/use.
jpg files.
You can't play video files created on WMM v2.6 on the earlier version 2.1 of Windows Movie Maker (XP).
You can't paste embedded files into Windows Movie Maker.
As long as the Hypercam files are in the correct format for Windows Movie Maker, they can be imported into the program. If the files are not compatible, they will need to be converted before importation.
Text files have to be image files compatible with Windows Movie Maker:.bmp, .dib, .emf, .gif, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, .wmf
The files have to be compatible with Windows Movie Maker:.aif, .aifc, .aiff, .asf, .au, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .snd, .wav, .wma
I don't exactly know what you are referring to when you say 'static'. What sort of static are getting? If you have static on imported video files, then the files are the problem and not Windows Movie Maker.
Windows Movie Maker imports .gif files is the original format size. You will have to stretch the gif out on the time-line to see its total animation.
