You shouldn't pet a wild animal at all. Many animals will abandon their young if a human has touched it. I don't know if horses are the same but still, the mothers can be very aggressive and she could be right around the corner for all you know. Moral of the story...don't pet wild animals.

Its best to let them get used to the surroundings, i have got 1 wild rabbit and she had babies and they now must think that they are pets, i have kept them in a hutch and let them get used to were they are , its best to also take them walks. You can get harnesses in local pet shops. You can also get a run to let them have a bit of fresh air i hope this information has been helpfull lily x

Oh yes, they will let you pet them. Tigers are feline however, and prone to taking a dislike to anyone, at anytime for no apparent reason. Never reach into a zoo exhibit to pet a tiger or any other wild animal for that matter. Even Tigers raised in captivity and a loving environment can decide to "Play" with you, but sure, they will let you pet them, maybe even twice, although the second time may have to be with your remaining arm.
