You can sell things in Tom Nook's store. He'll buy just about anything. Sometimes, fossils go for a lot of money, but you have to get them identified first. You can also sell foreign fruit that is not the same as your town's main fruit (each foreign fruit is worth 500 bells). You can get foreign fruit from going to your friend's town or sending letters to your neighbors. To get the fruit from your neighbors write this, "Please send fruit." Then attach a present to the letter (they'll even except a shell) and mail it. It should take a day in Animal Crossing time (6am to 6 pm).

P.S. You might get clothes instead of fruit, but you can sell it, or keep it, whatever.

The fastest way to make money is to sell non native fruit. Now, even if you don't have any friends near that have animal crossing with a different native fruit, you can still get non native fruit. All you have to do is mail letters to your neighbors and include a present (I use native fruit). Anything will do. When you get mail back, there is a chance that there will be a non native fruit. IMPORTANT: if you don't want to ensure that your one non native fruit turns into a tree, cut down a tree with an axe, dig it up, WITHOUT COVERING THE HOLE, bury your fruit in it. It has a 100% chance of growing. Also, if you cant get fruit, catch and sell fish. Also, for a bonus "bang" of cash, go around town hitting all your rocks until one pops out money. Keep hitting the rock for more and more money for a set period of time. There is only one rock daily. Also, if you want a free furniture item, unequip your equipment so you have free hands. Then, set your clock to midnight. Keep watching the night sky until you see a shooting star shoot across. Press "A" as soon as you see the star dissapear, and your character will bow, making a wish. In the morning, after 9:00 (9:00 Am and 5:00 Pm is the time when mail is delivered) you should have a letter from Wishy the Wishing Star, and attached should be a furniture item, possibly a spotlight item.

A: Before you take a shot at hitting the rock, dig a hole behind you and a hole to the left or the right. (don't dig a hole on the left AND the right as this keeps you from getting 4000 more bells, you'll see what I mean when you try it) This secures you by the rock, keeping you from "bouncing" off the rock.

Q: What is a spotlight item?

A: A spotlight item is a furniture item in Tom Nook's shop that is a special product. You can only get spotlight items in the shop when you have at least 2 characters living in your house. You're more likely to have a spotlight product in your store every day when you have more characters living in your house. Spotlight products include the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda, the Triforce from The Legend of Zelda, and the Arwing from Star Fox. Also, each theme for your house (such as the common theme or the fruit theme) always include at least one spotlight item (the blue theme has the blue dresser as a spotlight product)

That means that each tree with be worth 1500 bells in fruit. If you sell the fruit your town came with, you will only get 300 from each tree because they are worth 100 bells each.
