Somebody else might point it out to you. You might start making some irrational decisions about your future. You will know by your mood swings. You might start feeling really negative in the morning, feeling really tired. During the day you will feel like everything is crushing on top of you. It might help if you talk to someone close to you about your feelings.

It varies from person to person.

If friends are going to a party or any social event and you are not asked:

Do you think it's because they don't want you there?

Do you think people are being hurtful when in actual fact they're trying to help?

Do you get upset when someone (particularly someone you care about) takes someone else's side in a disagreement and not yours?

Something, you MUST always do, when suffering from depression is to KEEP THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE.

It is very easy to let "dark imaginings" escalate in to paranoia and get the better of you.

More signs are:

You think people are talking about you. You are constantly negative about yourself and if you meet someone inwardly you feel that they don't like you. People are out to get you. When someone is very paranoid they can think someone is stalking them, trying to get into their home (and the paranoid person will have the locks changed several times because of it.) They will also start talking to themselves and if not treated this person can eventually become house-bound.

The best thing is to see a doctor. What you may feel is paranoia is not. Everyone can be a little paranoid at times, but it should never totally interfere in your lifestyle. We all must be careful of our own safety these days, but if it's stopping you from having fun and feeling like a free citizen please seek out the help of your doctor. There are medications to help this.

when you are more concerned about what others are thinking about you than you are about anything else. This will increase to the point of being suspicious that others are conspiring against you .........and this becomes a preoccupation of your mind....these thoughts become addictive....and they dont stop. Your confidence slowly gets chipped away and then you start believing in what your fears are telling you

However ...The above answers are only pointers. DON'T diagnose yourself as paranoid on the basis of things you read online. Discuss the matter with your doctor in the first instance.

ANSWER: The word "paranoid" is used carelessly and way to often. Ofcause every paranoid person have there own version of it. But everyone some times think for them selfs "I wonder what that person thinks of me, or talking about me.." That is natural. What issent natural is to think to yourself that people physicly close to you, is going to harm you, your body or your feelings. Your heart is pumping, maby your hand get wet and shaky, maby you get confused and maby sick. Maby everything around you get loud and noisy. maby you get all at the same time, Sometimes you get like this even with people you know well, friends and family, but moustly strangers, the poseble evil or crasy people. And really believeing, when you walk the street, that the people in the houses, in the cars, on the bycikles, others walking, are looking at you and wanting to judge and harm, maby even kill you... There by makeing it the event of the day to go out shopping for food or ride the public transportasions and to be at the destination. Well that people, is to have paranoia! But besides that, i truly agree with the "However" above me :)

Since there are many different types of paranoia, and it affects everyone differently, there are no cut and dried 'easy fixes'. And there are many different medications and treatments for this, which are very helpful to most people. But if you are already on medications for it, and if they don't seem to be helping, then be sure to convey this to your doctor in a way to make sure he understands just how intense the paranoia is. Also, if you don't feel your doctor is really helping you, then by all means, change doctors. You are certainly not alone in this disorder; many, many people suffer with parania, some mild, and some extreme, but there are treatments that can help you. It's a matter of finding the right doctor and the right medications/treatments. There are things you can do to help yourself, also. One thing you can do is to identify just what your 'triggers' are. Once you can do that, then you can take measures to avoid those triggers, and also to try to understand the reason for them. Keeping a journal can help you quite a lot with this; it will help you keep track of triggers, other circumstances surrounding the episode, your different responses, etc. So by keeping a journal, you will learn much more not only about yourself, but also how this disorder affects you. By doing this, it will allow you to participate in helping to get this under control, and giving you more of a sense of 'power' over this illness.
