There are 2 possiblities for your Smith and Wesson revolver.You could have a .32 double action which was made between 1909-1919,or you could have the 32 hand ejector series third model which was made from 1911-1942 with the serial number that you have provided.
A Smith and Wesson M&P 40 is a .40 caliber hand gun.
