Walk with him/her or play with him/her. If this does not work try giving him/her treats or food to calm them down. Or it might just be a puppy thing. If your dog gets to be at least 5 years old and still that same hyper puppy check the question "What do you do when a dog's too hyper?". Some puppies can be very calm, but if your puppy is walking slow or not playing at all, take it to the vet. They will tell you. But, if your worried right now, you may take it to the vet to get it checked out.
Excitement. Many dogs (especially puppies) get over-excited at the prospect of a visitor. Does your boyfriend say hello to the puppy whilst it is still excited? If so, ask him to ignore your puppy when he first enters until the puppy is calm. This may seem cruel, but it teaches your dog that they are rewarded for being calm and are not praised for over-excited behaviour. Many puppies will grow out of this in time.
E-Harmony, Match.com, and probably many more. If your dog dies, you get a puppy right away.
The pins hold the broken pieces together, but not inserted inside the bone - so they might get dislocated if the puppy is hyperactive. When this happens, it is advised to keep the puppy calm and restrict it's movement so it does not get worse. Visit the vet as soon as possible. Do not worry, your puppy will be fine, it just needs some rest. And remember, although you want to keep your puppy calm, if you don't let it move at all, it could get sick. This is not an emergency, but can worsen if the instructions above are not taken.
The Great Dane puppy calms down around the magic age of two years old. There is always the exception of the dog that reamains a puppy all its life but with my Great Danes two years old was the magic time. They all of a sudden calm down and become very regal animals.
