Yes you can fix this but you need to remove over sized jewellery or dangle jewellery and just place a simple barbell in the piercing. Give it time to heal, so treat it like it's a new piercing with proper aftercare and just be nice to it for a while. Dangle jewellery is not intended to be worn for extended periods of time just because of the snag factor and the weight is a little tough on the piercing and will stretch the piercing just like ear lobes. ( Bet they didn't tell you that when they sold it to you huh?)

How long have you had the piercing? A belly button piercing should be pretty much healed in 3 to 4 months, if you have had your piercing longer then that it may have been done wrong and you should let a local piercer have a look at it. Otherwise keep it clean (use salt water, contact solution, or buy a cleaning agent from your local piercing shop) Don't pick at it whatever you do, you don't need to add extra germs to the area!
