we can notice by the effect it causes on the nearby stars. A star which is near a black hole revolves around it and when it is closer to a black hole ,it revolvles faster

and it revolves slower when it is farther away from a black hole.Secondly, we can notice a black hole by the space distortion it creates. Thirdly, we can notice it by finding the amount of gas of nearby stars falling into the black hole

What are black holes and why do they have this name?

A black hole is a region of space from which nothing, including light, can escape. It is called "black" because it absorbs light that hits it, reflecting nothing.

What will happen if you shine a white light in front of a black oject?

Unless it's space, it will reflect some light. This is because there is no man made shade of black that absorbs 100% of all light shone on it. Some natural examples of true black is pure carbon and space.

If your body is a black hole are you invisible?

Black holes are invisible to the visible light spectrum and many others because their gravity is so strong it pulls in even light. So in theory yes. But a human body is FAR too light to ever form a black hole. However, if you define visibility as human perception of it, while we never see light from a black hole, we would notice the absence of light in an area, so even if it were possible to turn your body into a black hole, no one would see you, but the would see a black gap in space where you should be...

Why space is black?

because there is not enough light to brighten the who outer space :)) your welcome

Why is the color of space black?

Space is black because there is nothing there for light to bounce off of. Since black is not a colour by itself, but an absence of colour, this is why space looks black.

What is observed when white light strikes a block of charcoal?

When white light strikes a block of charcoal, the charcoal absorbs most of the light across the visible spectrum, reflecting very little back. This results in the block appearing black in color due to the absorption of all colors of light.

Why is it black in outer space?

We see things as black when there is no light coming from that direction. Space is mostly empty, and neither generates light or reflects it, so it looks black. We only SEE things that reflect light, or that generate their own light.

Why does space appear black?

We can directly observe light sources and objects that reflect light. Since space contains little of either, it mostly appears black.

Why black body absorbs heat?

Objects appear white when they reflect all wavelengths of visible light. Reflection of various wavelengths of light means that they are scattering the light back into the space surrounding the object, rather than absorbing that energy.Objects appear black when they absorb all wavelengths of visible light, thus absorbing that energy (some of which is converted to heat).

What is a light hole in space?

Obvisouly it is not a black hole! :)

What are some materials that do NOT reflect light?

Materials that do not reflect light well are known as non-reflective or absorptive materials. Some examples include black velvet, Vantablack (a material that absorbs almost all light), and black holes in space that absorb light due to their immense gravity.

In space is it dark?

Yes! space is pitch black! however, because of the light of the stars, and especially the sun..... space is really glowing with light . but it is still dark in space .
