How can you know if it is the switch or the blower motor not working in a 1993 lumina?

The first thing I'd look at is the switch and then the connections to the blower motor.
Try bypassing the switch and see if the blower motor starts. Also, don't forget the fuse controlling the blower motor. Replace it with a fuse of similar size and see if that corrects the problem. If all else fails, just replace the blower motor unit with another. Go to the wreckers and you can get it for less than half price.
