it would require a pelton wheel of some sort which would be attached to a generator...and it would require water being injected into it at a high psi in order to rotate the wheel which is surrounded by metal spoon-like shapes that are pushed by a jet of high pressure water. This would generate electricity wherever you put it.
Water at a height, pipework and a hydroelectric generator make electricity.
they make electricity
A hydroelectric generator does not require much maintenance. If you build it right or if you purchase a decent generator, you should not have much problems.

Either a battery or a portable generator.
The hydroelectric generator made 5 megawatts of electricity every day.
A portable generator can be as cheap as $200.00 to as much as $2,000.00. The price varies a lot depending on the size and power of the portable generator. They are available to purchase at online stores such as Overstock and Amazon.
Hydroelectric generators do not convert water into anything. And even assuming that the question means to ask: how fast does a hydroelectric generator produce energy? the short answer to that question would be instantaneously.A hydroelectric generator produces electricity by converting the kinetic energy of moving water into electrical energy via alternating magnets which are spun by the turbine getting hit by the moving water. If the question is: How much energy is produced by a hydroelectric generator, then that answer depends on the size and efficiency of the system.
I would recommend a portable generator to be used for backup. A good one is the Powerhouse portable generator that sells for about $800 plus tax and is readily available online.
This is called hydroelectric power, or hydro power.
