I'm not sure how you make a code by yourself, but you can download Pokesav by googling pokesav download. Select all the options you want, click Generate ARDS Code, select everything you modified and click save. Open the .XML file with Notepad, and find either Pokemon pearl or diamond, and the code is right there. It always works, but the codes can be pretty long.
