You can take the paper off crayons and melt them (slowly over a double boiler), then make 3-D wax art with them.
One should own a double boiler. The steps are; breaking up parafin and adding it to the boiler, adding some crayon after the wax is melted, mixing fragrance, pouring the wax in a mold, letting it set for several hours.
melt the wax
Wax will melt in boiling water. You do not want to expose wax directly to a flame, of course, because it will catch fire.
The intermolecular forces holding the wax together break causing it to melt.
A double boiler is a two pot cooking device. The bottom pot holds water. The top pot is smaller (usually with a lid) and fits into the bottom pot. When the water in the bottom pot gets hot and boils, it then heats the top pot thereby warming or melting or cooking what is in the top pot. This same device is also known by the french "bain marie".
