The purpose of improving efficiency is so that raw materials can be managed in order to minimise waste and therefore reduce costs. Also, minimising waste can have a positive effect on the environment.
I am not an expert on the subject bit I think that apple try to minimise waste by reusing waste material, if it is impossible to reuse waste material, the factories probably sell it for its scrap value. Hope this helps
Because Singapore is such a small country if it produce too much waste, it could turn Singapore into a wasteland
There are several purposes of keeping waste to a minimum in a office environment. One is to be more eco-friendly -- essentially saving the Earth's resources and spreading them further. Also there is the need to waste as little as possible so that office supplies do not have to constantly be purchased, being much economically friendly. It also makes the office look like a much neater and tidier place to be.
It is important to minimise waste in the workplace because this keeps the workplace tidy and is more likely to reduce the risk of hazzards or an accident. For example: if there was lots of paper work on my desk and i didn't realise some of it had fallen on the floor and covered some wires; then someone could walk past and trip over the hidden wires. This could cause a serious accident. By minimising waste, we are also helping the environment being "green". Also the waste costs money, so the less waste there is, the more money the company will save and make.
