What you would do is click on their name on your buddy list to open the chat window. Then on the im window you would click on options in the upper right hand corner and click send file. You would then browse to select the file you want to send to them and click on the file and click open. The file will transfer as soon as whoever you sent it to accepts your file transfer invite. You will then see a transfer complete notification. Then that's it, your done.
