1) It doesn't work overnight, so be patient.
2) Warn visitors it's out there.
3) Tie it up with some fishing line so it doesn't blow into the neighbor's yard and freak them out (they ARE realistic).
4) Most important is that you must move it around every couple of days or else the birds get used to it. I usually move mine every day. The landscaper stressed this. I now have zero bird problems, whereas, previously, I was hosing and vacuuming ungodly volumes of poop every day.
Sometimes, as one reader noticed, particularly tenacious birds will still roost in the area. There are dozens of other products that you can buy, including invisible, harmless, food-grade chemicals and sonic repellers. Your backyard will not ending up looking like a "flea market". You can put the TerrorEyes ball on your roof, where no one but the birds will see it. Any chemicals are invisible, and sonic repellers are just a box and speakers, hardly more noticeable than telephone wires. These products have been proven time and time again in the field (See the Related Links for more information), and I'm sure they will be effective in this situation as well.

We have loved this scarecrow, motion detection sprinkler. We had huge issues with geese and ducks using the pool as PARTY CENTRAL, pooping all around and in our pool. This solved it. Best $$ ever spent. This link to Amazon is the cheapest I have found. Plus free shipping. Good luck. Plus fun to watch the machine in action. Go to You Tube for some videos. See the Related Links for more information about this item.
. Try a new product called Kings Duck Solution. Loads of different birds do not like it.

No pooping in pool, no running around pool, and no diving depending on how deep it is.
What, are they pooping in it? My best bet is to place a pool cover over it after each use to prevent them from getting in it

One of the best ways to prevent problems with your swimming pool is by running the pump and circulating the water. The best care for the pool varies depending on the type of pool you have but keeping proper water chemistry is important for any pool.
