For my car, I purchased it used, so I didn't have the window sticker that said it. I took it to my insurance agent and had him come outside. I rolled the window down, locked it, and then reached inside and unlocked it and opened the door. The alarm imediatly sounded. It might not arm the alarm if the window is down, but the same can be achieved by staying inside the car and just unlocking and opening the door. Good luck! on my 97 Rover discovery factory alarm if you try and unlock the passenger door the alarm will sound ..if you trigger the alarm from the wrong door install ignition key and switch on and off once or is it twice. ..you always lock and unlock by key from the drivers door with factoy alarm
