Form W-2 is Wage and Tax Statement. Your employer is required to provide/send your W-2 forms to you by January 31st. If January 31st falls on a weekend, then the deadline is extended to the next business day. The deadline for 2008 W-2 forms is February 2, 2009. The deadline for 2009 W-2 forms in February 1, 2010.

Contact your employer if you haven't received your W-2s by then. If your employer doesn't provide them to you, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. The IRS will request that your employer send your W-2s to you.

If you don't have them by the time that you want to fill out your return, fill out Form 4506-T (Request for Transcript of Tax Return). The IRS will send you a transcript (computer printout of information on your W-2 form). There's no charge for this. It takes about 10-30 days to process this request. Transcripts are available for the current year plus the previous three years.

Registering for Online W-2s

1. Type this URL into your browser: https://w2.adp.com.

2. Click the Register Now link.

3. Click the Register Now button.

4. Type in the Registration Pass Code: DLTR-W2, then click Next.

5. In the "I want to verify my identity using my:" field, leave Social Security Number (SSN)

selected. You must use your Social Security Number to verify your identity.

6. Type in your name (as it appears on your pay check) and your Social Security Number.

7. Click Next.

8. Type in your e-mail address. This e-mail address will be used to send you your username and password information.

9. Type in your City/Town of birth. Then select two separate security questions and provide

answers.

10. Your user ID will be displayed on this screen. Write it down.

11. Next, create your password and click Submit. Note: Keep your password handy for logging in later.

12. You will be directed back to the login screen of the W-2 Portal. Click Login.

14. Select Yes to "Go Paperless."

15. Click Accept to confirm the "paperless" selection.

13. Type in your username and password, and click OK. Check your e-mail if you've forgotten your username. You will receive an e-mail from ADP that includes your username and password.

16. Type the confirmation number here, then click Save. You're done!

17. To view and print a W-2, click on the link for the year you need.
