How can you relieve TMJ symptoms and pain without visiting the dentist because you have no money and the state will not cover it?

Possibly...Try buying a sports mouth guard. (like they wear in football) Follow the directions on the guard to form fit it to your mouth. Then wear it at night and any other time during the day that's convenient for you. This may help some.

In my experience I had some money and went to the prosodontist (spelling), and it cost about $1000. He designed a plate, similar to a mouth guard, which I wear and at the beginning it didn't relieve the pain, but now it works quite well. I agree with the previous post, get a moldable mouthguard from the shops, it's probably as effective. (The ones you mold with hot water are good, I think they can be remolded over time?)
