First, if the spark plug lead has been in use for 30,000 miles or more, replace the lead instead of repairing it. To repair a spark plug lead, carefully strip 1" of insulation from the wire, leaving the core exposed. Fold the exposed core back over the insulation. Place a new connector over the end of the lead. Ensure the core is solidly sandwiched between the connector and insulation. Crimp using proper crimping tool. Lubricate the insulation and slide the boot onto the repaired end.

How do you repair a broken spark plug wire?

Typically, they would be replaced rather than being repaired. I agree. You may be able to patch together a wire-cored lead sufficiently to get you home, but not a carbon-cored lead, and the proper answer is replace with new.
