just press pause and select save! sometimes in the game you'll see in the right bottom of the screen, a white circle. that means that the game is autosaved-and you can select the autosave file from the load section. if you save your game, and close the game, next time you'll begin from the beginning of the area you are in, and maybe not from exactly the place you saved-but light seeds or enemys you defeated, will have be saved! hope i helped!
