Stalling at idle? Immediately after starting? While driving? While stopping? Cold or hot engine? What engine do you have?
Well, first you have to figure out WHY it's stalling.
Not really, the engine has little mass and will just stop. Stalling will stretch primary and drive chains perhaps and could put excessive strain on the transmission.
You need to have the codes read. You can then diagnose the codes. The code will probably point to the cause of the stalling.
A 1994 Cadillac Deville that has an engine surging problem and is stalling out can indicate it is not getting enough fuel. The fuel filter may be clogged.
no, stalling only makes your car stop for a brief moment when shifting geers to fast or not using the clutch correctly
Stalling refers to an engine running too slowly to keep going, or to an aircraft losing it's airspeed enough to cease flying.
if cat is plugged an exhaust dont pass through it will stall the engine
ford focus stalling at idle but not cutting off the check engine light is on please help so i dont get rip off thanks
The more you use the starter to start the engine the more wear is demand is placed on it. So, yes, in a sense stalling and restarting does harm the starter.
Generally speaking, a stoppage of gasoline to one of its engine cylinders will cause a car to seem like it's stalling.
The idle speed needs adjusted upward if an engine stalls when you take your foot off the accelerator while stopping or turning.
Hard starting and engine stalling. Eventually the filter will become completely clogged and the engine will not start.
no/poor gas flow to the engine. Results in stalling/stammerring motor.
idle speed too low? loosen bolt at bottom of distributor cap and turn the dist. cap slightly while the engine is running to change idle speed. then tighten bolt when you find a good speed.
had same problem with my probe stalling whilst driving after stopping short spell and would then restart. answer was located in immobilizer circuit which cut in at wrong times only cure was to have immobilizer disconnected.
Check for insufficient fuel delivery.
Noisy fuel pump, stalling, or engine will not start and you have no fuel pressure.
Yes it could if you in fact have a carburetor. Carburetors were fazed out during the 1980's.
Stalling when stopping can be a sign of a bad lock-up torque converter solenoid. But if it stalls while in park, it may also be a very bad vacuum leak, especially if it idles rough. I am assuming it has good plugs and plug wires.
By lowering an anchor, or in modern times, stopping the engine.
Have your Camshaft Positioning Senser checked cuz all 7.3L had a recall on them when they go bad they start stalling the engine, just what i had to do cuz mine has went bad 3 times
It has a top speed limiter. Once you reach that speed it will shut the engine off
It would help to know when it stalls? leaking air hoses in the engine compartment can be a problem. There are a number of them about the engine and it is about time you just replace all of them.
answers are no where to be seen
