- Well, I'm assuming that you haven't been dating him for that long since you still feel this way. In time, you will start to warm-up to him and be extremely comfortable around him, no matter what you say will feel awkward around him, trust me. Just keep-up conversation with him and getting to know him in the process. As for not sounding like an "idiot", if he cannot accept you for who you are, and thinks of you to be ignorant while talking to him then you may have a problem.
