Remove from the cylinder and look at it there if it is black clean it with a wire brush and check the gapping. you can get the info on gapping on the web from the OEM(original eqiptment manufacture) then buy a gapping tool. if the plug looks to have been melted or if there is yellow spots you should take it to the doctor and have its head examined ( buy doctor i mean dealer.) you have got much bigger problems. If you need to see if it is makeing spark let the plug touch the cylinder head layed on its side. turn the bike over and look for spark.
take the spark plug out of the head. then put the spark plug wire back on the spark plug. ground the plug on the engine you can do this by putting the plug any where there is metal and lay it on it. then turn engine over and see if you have spark. if not then do the same thing with just the wire by putting a Philips screw driver in place of the plug, ground it turn over the engine see if there is a spark if their is the plug is bad. if not then the coil or flywheel is bad more than likely it is the coil

Could be a few reasons, and can't be pinpointed without me actually seeing it "in action". But here are the most likely reasons, in order of likleyhood: 1) Spark plug not tightened to proper specs. Fix: tighen plug to proper specs with torque wrench. 2) Spark plug "washer" bad or gone. Fix: Replace washer. 3) Spark plug seals bad. Fix: Replace spark plug. 4) Bad threads in spark plug hole. Fix: Retap, or "Helicoil" it. 5) Crack in head near spark plug hole. Fix: Replace head.
96 Lexus ES doesn't have spark plug wires in the traditional sense. As it has Coil on Plug (COP) coils, it has more like a wiring harness to replace. IMHO it's doubtful this has gone bad. More likely one or more of the COP's has gone bad. What are the symptoms?
If the car will not start...the spark-plug is bad.
Bad spark plug, bad spark plug wire
Yes. If the ignition is malfunctioning, the spark plug will not ignite. A bad ignition module, a bad spark plug or a bad plug wire are the most common causes of that (besides a bad battery, of course).
bad spark plug wire.
Spark plug wire not connected to spark plug? Spark plug wire connected to Wrong spark plug? Vacuum line disconnected? Bad spark plug or wire?
poor spark plug gap bad wires or weak coil or bad spark plugs
If you know that there is spark at the distributor cap then I would think it would be bad spark plug leads.
Keep the spark plug hooked up to the car but don't plug it into the engine chamber. Have a friend start the car and see if the plug sparks at the end. Also, if your engine misfires a lot than you most likely have a bad spark plug.
