However they are becoming increasingly popular for ceramic sealed bearings operating under light loads and moderate speeds.
Advantages:
1. Accessibility of contamination is significantly restricted.
2. Zero regular re-lubrication is required.
Disadvantages:
1. The bearing lifetime is restricted by the sum of lubrication loaded in between the seals of the bearing and the lube life.
2. The functionality of using sealed bearings is limited due to the excessive heating on larger sizes.
