How can you tell if someone has an evil spirit?

Deceived, unbelieving mankind remains utterly blinded to the fact that this world is populated by demons [or "unclean spirits"]. The Bible clearly reveals that they've been imprisoned here since BEFORE man was made; like the rest of the world AWAITING JUDGMENT DAY at the end of God's present plan:

"For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus [spiritual imprisonment or a spiritual condition of restraint], and committed them to chains of darkness, and RESERVED THEM FOR JUDGMENT; if He did not spare the ANCIENT WORLD..." (II Peter 2:4-5 MNT Montgomery New Testament).

Notice the chronology of Peter's testimony. The angels that sinned, unclean spirits, demons were cast down here and imprisoned on earth before man's existence.

The world today, wallowing in its own flood of advanced computer technology can no more grasp the existence of the spirit realm all around it than all of the previous "low-tech" generations before it.

Jesus cast demons [unclean spirits] out of people [seemingly, right and left] the entire time He walked this earth as a man. At least the "low-tech" Jews of His day gave credence to the existence of demons [even claiming that Jesus had a few; or was one]. But that belief has diminished considerably with the advent of the computer, and modern society's derision toward such superstitious beliefs in God and the Bible.

Jesus says: "Whenever an unclean spirit [demon] leaves a man, it wanders through waterless places [God's Holy Spirit is compared to RIVERS OF LIVING WATER... might the human heart devoid of the Holy Spirit be deemed a 'waterless place'? More on this in a moment], seeking rest but finding none. Then IT SAYS, 'I will GO BACK TO MY HOUSE WHICH I LEFT; and on arrival finds it empty, swept, and garnished. The IT GOES and BRINGS WITH IT SEVEN OTHER SPIRITS worse than ITSELF; and they ENTER IN and DWELL THERE. And the STATE OF THAT MAN is WORSE THAN THE FIRST. SO SHALL IT BE WITH THIS WICKED GENERATION [and each succeeding generation right up to ours, today, maybe?]." (Matt.12:43-45 MNT)

Even this world's modern medical profession refuses [and indeed IS NOT ALLOWED] to accept the existence of the invisible spirit realm populating planet earth. Therefore, they can't appeal to God for relief or CURE from the mental incapacities from which man suffers today. Instead, they strive to create "mind-altering drugs" that suppresses certain mental capacities of the human brain... not to CURE anything; as if they could... but to TREAT many of the same SYMPTOMS in modern man that Jesus did by CASTING OUT DEMONS.

My point is, that we might be more informed about evil spirits... and who may or may not have one... if we believed what the Bible says, rather than what unbelieving men say.

Matthew Henry says this about Matthew 12:43-45:

"...it is also applicable to all those who hear the Word of God, and are in part reformed, but NOT TRULY CONVICTED [emphasis, mine]. The unclean spirit leaves for a time, but when he returns, he finds CHRIST IS NOT THERE TO SHUT HIM OUT; the heart is swept by outward reformation, but garnished by preparation to COMPLY WITH EVIL SUGGESTIONS, and THE MAN becomes A MORE DECIDED ENEMY OF THE TRUTH. EVERY HEART IS THE RESIDENCE OF UNCLEAN SPIRITS, except THOSE WHICH ARE TEMPLES OF THE HOLY GHOST [Spirit], by Faith in Christ." (Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary: Matt12:38-45)

To my thinking: Satan and his demons are alive and well, and LIVING IN THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF MEN, EVERYWHERE!

If Matthew Henry may be taken at his word: the real rarity in this world is to be able to tell "who DOESN'T HAVE AN EVIL SPIRIT IN HIS HEART?" Because the collective heart of this world is too calloused and deceived by its god to perceive its own evil intent.

The ones WITHOUT the evil spirits are the ones with God's Holy Spirit dwelling within them. How can you tell who they are? They're the ones striving to live in harmony with their neighbor in accordance with God's Word: loving and respecting both God and man.

"Here is my final conclusion: FEAR GOD and OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS, for this is the DUTY OF EVERY PERSON [you won't find anyone with an evil spirit doing this]. God will JUDGE US [and all the evil spirits imprisoned here by God, awaiting Judgment Day - see also Jude 1:6] for EVERYTHING WE DO, including every secret thing, whether good or bad." (Eccle.12:13-14 NLTNew Living Translation)
