The only way to tell if your placenta has separated from the uterus it to go to your OBGYN and have them do a sonogram. If your doctor is unavailable, I would go to your local emergency room. I urge you to do this as soon as possible because my first daughter died from this and your baby may be in grave danger. The best of luck to you and I hope everything is ok.
it seperates while you are giving birth to your baby
The condition is called placenta previa.
Placenta previa
The embryo attaches to the placenta when it reaches the uterus very early in a pregnancy.
It means that your placenta is in the front of your uterus. This is not an issue in early pregnancy as the placenta usually moves as pregnancy progresses. If it is still anterior near end of pregnancy it can make you have to have a C-section. Also, it will be harder to feel the baby's kicks and movement as an anterior placenta cushions the baby from the tummy.
During pregnancy, the placenta attaches itself to the uterus to provide the developing fetus blood, oxygen, and nourishment as well as removing waste from your baby. The placenta may implant itself at a low position in the uterus, during the early stages of pregnancy. Normally, as the uterus begins to expand to provide more room for your baby, the placenta moves upward but away of the cervix. If it doesn't move away, it may be blocking the opening of the cervix. This is known as placenta previa. If this does occur, the placenta will detach itself from the uterus in advance as the cervix begins to open up for labor. Generally, placenta previa can be detected before any severe harm is caused.
Placenta Previa is when the placenta forms in the lower part of the uterus, covering all or part of the opening to the cervix. It is not usually a problem during early pregnancy, but can cause problems later. Later in pregnancy, it can cause bleeding, which may require you to deliver early. Women with Placenta Previa are required to deliver through cesarean section. http://www.babycenter.com/0_placenta-previa_830.bc

There is no safe way for you to abort the pregnancy yourself. It can be quite harmful, especially if the placenta is already developed and attached to the uterus. The safest way would be for you to go to the doctor and have an abortion performed.
Your cervix does not grow during pregnancy but the uterus does.
Some women are known to have periods during pregnancy however, you should see your Dr to check for a condition called Placenta Previa. This can be serious and should be caught early in pregnancy to avoid stress on the uterus.
