A horse that enjoys your company will try to stay near you. He may nicker to you, and run to greet you. Horses often nuzzle people they like.
if it doesnt kick you!
you can also tell if your horse likes you if you blow/brethe into its nosetrolls. if it gives a responding blow/brethe back it like you and trusts you. if you see two horses nose to nose they are doing this.
When a horse is nervous, they are very spooky. You can see the white part of their eye, and they will probably breathe really heavy. They will also walk slowly and have their ears straight up.
They get very tense. When I think my horse is nervous, I grab the top of her neck where the mane is and move it from side to side. compare it when your horse is calm, and then when he is nervous. when he is calm, is flops from side to side. When he is nervous, you have to shake it pretty hard to get any kind of movement from it. and some horses take longer strides and may even try to break intoa run, while others take short, up-right, prancey steps.
He wants to be your neigh - bor. (I couldn't resist the pun - sorry!)
When horses are interested, they tend to prick their ears or hold their head high

I would try coaxing it with one of its favorite treats, and reward it if it gets in. Obviously I don't know his favorite, but i would try a salt lick, carrot, or anything you know/think he likes.
