Fireheart997's Improved Answer: The other possible reason that this is happening is (and I've experienced it) you may have a fake or foreign copy. When you trade/send Pokemon to another GBC/GBA/console game with a fake/foreign copy your data will be automatically erased; it says so in most of the Pokemon games manuals.
